ATS - Online monitoring of furnace temperature system
ATS is an acoustic pyrometer to measure and 2D mapping of boiler temperature distribution. The 2D-temperature distribution provided by ATS allows to detect flue gas temperature imbalances. The correction of imbalances (manual or by automated control) leads to less emissions (e.g. CO, NOx), slagging and corrosion.
How does ATS work?
ATS is based on a simple but reliable acoustic principle for measuring temperatures in harsh environments. This principle, combined with a powerful algorithm and a modern interface for visualization and control, enables ATS to provide superior temperature measurement for the control of combustion applications.
The fundamental principle of acoustic pyrometry is based on the fact that the speed of sound in a gas changes as a function of temperature, and is further affected by the composition of the gas along the acoustic path.
Components and Configurations
ATS are available in a variety of configurations. With up to 24 individual path temperatures available, systems may be configured for spatial 2 dimensional temperature mapping, independent temperature measurements, or a combination of both.
Why use ATS?
- Real-time temperature data helps to control and optimize operation.
- Optimizing boiler efficiency (> 50% reduction of imbalances).
- Reduced maintenance costs.
- Optimized Soot Blowing Cycle – Less frequency for cost savings.
- Better temperature control helps reduce emissions and NOx generation.
